Baptism
The Sacrament of Baptism is the initiation into God's Family, the
Church. It is also the first step in coming to a full and complete relationship with Jesus
Christ.
The role of the parents is important in nurturing this relationship.
Infants are baptized on the faith and commitment of their parents. Hence the need for
parental awareness and assumption of the responsibility to raise a child in a life of
faith. To help parents understand and assume the privilege and responsibility, the parish
offers a program of baptismal instruction. All parents are expected to attend a
preparation session prior to the baptism of their child.
Parent preparation sessions are held on the first Wednesday of every
month. The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month at
12:15 PM in the church. The rectory must be
contacted for arrangements.
Baptism of older children and adults requires some instruction and
preparation. Arrangements can be made by contacting the rectory

First Communion
Eucharist is at the heart of our lives as Catholics. It recognizes
Christ as present both in the bread and wine, but also in the community gathered around
the altar.
Parents are the key in the preparation of their child for this sacrament. The witness of
their participation in Sunday Mass shows their child the value of this meeting with Jesus
and His people. The two year preparation for the Sacrament is inadequate without
it. Usually the Sacrament is celebrated in Grade 2.
Call the Religious Education Office for more
information.

Confirmation
As a Sacrament of Initiation, Confirmation is intimately related
to Baptism and Eucharist. It renews and strengthens the Christian's baptismal call to bear
witness to Christ in the world and to work for the coming of God's Kingdom here on earth.
Preparation is an intense faith formation process. There must be a desire and commitment
to the program and Catholic Faith on the part of the student.
Presently, the Confirmation program begins in Grade 7 and continues in Grade 8. It
includes growth in prayer, service and knowledge of their Catholic belief. Parents and
sponsors are involved in the preparation. Evidence of desire and commitment to the
practice of their faith is looked for in the candidates for Confirmation. Call the Religious Education Office for more
information.
Opportunities are offered for high school students and adults to also become candidates
for the Sacrament. Arrangements can be made by calling the rectory.

Matrimony
This is the Sacrament by which the Church joyfully joins a couple
in celebrating the mystery of love.
Because of the seriousness of this Sacrament, couples are required by diocesan policy to
participate in a marriage preparation program and to contact the rectory at least six
months in advance of the planned wedding to schedule a date and arrange for instruction.
Upon reserving a wedding date, an information packet is mailed to the engaged couple.
No Sunday weddings are allowed. Diocesan evaluation for couples under the age of 19 is
required before a wedding date can be set. Couples desiring to be married need to speak
directly with our priest or deacon BEFORE reserving a hall

Anointing of the Sick
The rite of the Sacrament of the Sick emphasizes the healing power
of Christ.
Therefore, the sick, the elderly, and those facing surgery are encouraged to receive this
anointing frequently.
Once a year we have a communal celebration of anointing during the parish liturgy. The
date and time will be noted in the Sunday bulletin.
At other times, arrangements should be made by contacting the rectory.

Holy Orders
The sacrament of Holy Orders is one of service to God's people.
Men interested in help to discern a call to be a priest or deacon can call the rectory.
Other Religious vocations, though not graced with a sacrament, are also
vital to the life of the Church. The call to be a Religious Sister, Brother, or Priest is
a gift to be cherished and explored. There are many who are called to lay ministry in the
Church in a temporary commitment as well. For information call the Religious Education Office.
